Certified Arborist in NH

A certified arborist in NH is a tree care professional who holds a credential from the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), and Soul Tree Care is led by one.

What “ISA Certified Arborist” Means

According to the ISA, certification is voluntary and non-governmental. To earn the ISA Certified Arborist credential, a candidate needs at least three years of full-time experience in arboriculture, or a combination of education and experience, and must pass a 200-question exam. The credential is valid for three years and is renewed by passing the exam again or earning at least 30 continuing education units. The ISA also states that certification is not a license to do business.

How to Verify an NH Arborist

The ISA keeps a public credential directory where you can search for a credential holder by name or credential ID. Soul Tree Care’s lead arborist is listed there as an ISA Certified Arborist, credential ID NE-7549A.

What an Arborist Can Assess

The ISA says an arborist can assess:

Signs It Is Time to Call an NH Arborist

The ISA’s tree risk checklist includes recent changes around a tree such as construction, soil level changes, or new lawns or pavement; unusually yellow or smaller-than-normal leaves; and topping or heavy pruning in the tree’s past. If you answer yes to any item on the checklist, the ISA says the tree should be examined by an ISA Certified Arborist.
